Molecular formula: FeSO4 7H2O
This is 500g of Iron (II) Sulphate-heptahydrate 99% supplied in aluminium doypack pouch with resealable zip grip and heat seal.
Ferrous Sulfate Heptahydrate, also called copperas, is a blue-green, monoclinic crystals; soluble in water, melts at 64 C. It is commercially generated as a by-product during the manufacture of Titanium Dioxide, or as a by-product of the pickling of steel. It is used as a mordant in dyeing wool, in the manufacture of ink, in water purification as a substitute for aluminum sulfate, as a fertilizer, moss control and as a feed additive. It is used to produce magnetic ferric oxide.
Usage Directions:For moss control
, aim for 5g iron sulphate/m2 of turf lawn if applied as a solid product (this is equivalent to 50kg iron sulphate/ha). Alternatively, dissolve at 5g/litre of water and apply to lawns at 1 litre/m2. Ferrous sulphate can be added to most other fertilisers. 1kg will last for 200m2.For Hardening and Conditioning Lawns
Test a small area with a 1% Ferrous Sulphate Heptahydrate solution (ie. 10gms/1L of water). If this does not give the desired effect a stronger solution can be used up to a maximum of 5% Ferrous Sulphate Heptahydrate (50gms/1L of water ).
A typical application for greening of grass would be 10-20g per Litre. Be aware that at dilutions of 30g per Litre and higher, undesired blackening of moss could occur. It is for this reason that Ferrous Sulfate is often included as an active ingredient in commercial lawn moss killing products. Over application of the product could also result in blackening of the grass itself.
